The Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (English: National People's Equality Party; abbreviated as RLSP) is a political partyin the Indian State Bihar, founded on 3 March 2013. It had previously existed as the Rashtriya Samta Party, established in 2009 by Upendra Kushwaha and Rambihari Singh, and was relaunched as the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party by Kushwaha
RLSP offered a delivery in terms of concrete results if voted to power and ensure economic development of Bihar and welfare of its people
On 23 February 2014, the RLSP entered into an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party led National Democratic Alliance. As per the alliance, the RLSP contested three seats from Bihar for 2014 General Elections content_imagely Sitamarhi, Karakat and Jahanabad. The party won all three seats as it rode the Modi wave which swept the 2014 Lok Sabha General Elections

Upendra Kushwaha Announces Formation of RLSP

The announcement came at a rally by Kushwaha's former party Bihar Navnirman Manch that he formed a few years ago after parting ways from Nitish Kumar, at Gandhi Maidan in Patna
"Our party is going to give some serious contention to the JD-U that, in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has failed to show any result that was expected from it," Kushwaha said
Unloading on the current government, the off again, on again supporter of Nitish Kumar, said that the law and order under the current administration had gone from bad to worse and the entire state was in the clutches of corrupt bureaucrats and the high-handedness of the police department
This is not the first time Kushwaha has formed a new party after being marginalized by the Chief Minister. In 2009, he formed a party with the same content_image sans 'Lok' called Rashtriya Samata Party. However, within months, he dissolved the party only to once again join the Janata Dal – U to remain with Nitish Kumar

State BJP president Mangal Pandey said the RLSP will be a new arm of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and will contest three seats in Bihar
Mr. Kushwaha, who belongs to the OBC Koeri caste, quit the ruling Janata Dal (United) and resigned as its Rajya Sabha MP, in December 2012, following differences with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The OBC and EBC (Extremely Backward Class) form a key vote base of Mr. Kumar’s JD (U)
Mr. Kushwaha floated the RLSP in March 2013, before the JD (U)-BJP split. At the time of launching his party in Patna, he had said that his party would work towards ousting the NDA from Bihar
On Sunday, however, he cited Gujarat CM and BJP’s CM candidate Narendra Modi’s vision for farmers and labourers as the reason for joining the BJP. “We stand for social justice. This is the first time an OBC person [Mr. Modi] is close to becoming the PM.”

The BJP and RLSP will together contest 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, their leaders have said. Mr. Kushwaha will also support the BJP’s ‘rail roko’ campaign on the issue of special status
The BJP said there was no decision yet on which three seats the RLSP would be contesting

Flanked by BJP national general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan, former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Nand Kishore Yadav, CP Thakur, RLSP national president Upendra Kushwaha and its state unit chief Arun Kumar, Pandey said the seats to be contested by the new ally in Bihar would be decided in due course of time
The state unit BJP chief neither confirmed nor denied speculation that RLSP will contest Nawada, Ujiarpur and Karakat parliamentary seats in Bihar
In addition to the pre-poll alliance with BJP, RLSP will also be part of the NDA in Bihar, Pandey said
RLSP national president Upendra Kushwaha hailed the leadership of Gujarat Chief Minister and wished him success in his endeavour to become the next prime minister which, Kushwaha claimed, would fulfil dreams of former chief minister and the socialist icon Karpoori Thakur
The RLSP president, who had quit JD(U) and also his seat as the Rajya Sabha MP two years ago to protest against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's alleged dictatorial attitude, said his party would also support the BJP-sponsored 'rail chakka jam' in Bihar on February 28 to protest against the Centre's discriminatory attitude towards Bihar by denying it the special category status

BJP ally RLSP announces candidates for two Bihar seats

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s ally in Bihar, the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP), Tuesday announced candidates for two of the 3 seats it is contesting in the Lok Sabha polls in the state
RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha, who released the first list, said the party has decided to field him from Karakat and Arun Kumar from Jehanabad
"The party will announce the candidate for Sitamarhi seat in the next three-four days," Kushwaha said
The BJP joined hands with Kushwaha's party last month and decided to give it three out of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state
Kushwaha is a former Janata Dal (United) Rajya Sabhamember but parted ways with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in early 2013
The BJP is eyeing Kushwaha's castemen, Koeri, who have a presence across the state
The BJP has also joined hands with the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) of Ram Vilas Paswan, who is known to enjoy the support of his Dalit caste, Paswan, known as Dusadh
The BJP has given seven seats to the LJP and the saffron party is contesting on 30 seats
